A coffee shop owner from the Roanoke Valley came up with a very interesting idea to help customers with their manners. Austin Simms put up a sign indicating that the more impolite you are the more you’re going to have to pay. He wanted to attract some local attention, but he never expected that the sign would go viral overnight!
The board says:
“One small coffee”
“One small coffee, please”
“Hello, I’d like one small coffee please.”
The sign was intended to be a joke, and it sure is hilarious. Of course, nobody really ended up getting upcharged for their lack of politeness, but, Austin did notice something happening. Words like “please,” “hello” and “thank you” are now used much more frequently, and it seems that the goal is accomplished.
