A team of international whale biologists were exploring the seas just off the coast of Madagascar when they caught on film something incredibly rare. At first they thought that it was a Bryde’s whale but when they took a closer look they realized that it was one of the least known species of whales in the world. They released an incredible footage of rare Omura’s whales captured on film for the first time in history!
Omura’s whales have long, narrow bodies built for speed in the waters and their population rate is unknown. They really are magnificent creatures, but based on the noises emitted underwater, researchers consider they might be in danger by industrial explorations. It is just amazing how something so big managed to stay unseen for such a long time!
