Would you dare to step inside the garden that contains nearly 100 plants that are lethal to humans? I would certainly think twice before doing so, but Jane Percy, Duchess of Northumberland thought that growing poison plants would be interesting, especially for children!?
The Poison Garden at Alnwick Castle grows around 100 infamous killers like strychnine, hemlock, ricin, foxglove, belladonna, poppies, and dozens more deadly growers. Here, you’re not allowed to stop and smell the roses. Do not touch the plants. And above all, don’t eat anything. The plants here can kill you—easily!
More than 600,000 visitors come to Alnwick every year to see this garden, and if you can not make it to the Scottish-English border, check out the video and see what you have been missing all these years.
