Crossing guards help children feel safe while crossing streets, and they do a very important work. Adrian Young is a crossing guard, but her job does not stop just when kids make it across. Recently, she went way above her duties and for that she is now being hailed a hero.
She was about to finish her shift at Alexandria Avenue Elementary School in Los Angeles when she heard a little girl screaming. “Please don’t let her take me, I don’t know her. She’s not my mom!” At that moment she realized the situation is very serious.
Some woman was trying to kidnap an 8-year-old child. Adrian herself is only 4-feet-8-inches tall, but she immediately sprang into action. She confronted the kidnapper even though she was a much larger woman. Thanks to her bravery, this little girl is now safe and with her parents.
Adrian was honored for her heroism and girl’s family will be forever grateful to her.
