People from YouTube channel Tenfresh have done a truly remarkable thing and brightened a day for one old lady. Alice Barker was a chorus line dancer during the Harlem Renaissance of the the 1930s and 40s. She performed at clubs such as The Apollo and Zanzibar Club, alongside legends including Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly, and Bill “Bojangles” Robinson.
Even though she danced in numerous movies, commercials and TV shows, she never had a chance to see any of them. All of her photographs and memorabilia have been lost over the years, but these wonderful people have changed all that. With the help of Mark Cantor of Jazz On Film they have secured three “Soundies” in which Alice appeared. What you can see is the moment they showed her the cuts from the moves she played in. It was very touching for this old lady, and you could see just how much she loved dancing.
